Go Green with a Fabric Grocery Bag

It's my 50th post. More sewing last evening and viola! grocery bag goodness.

It's my cousins birthday this month and I wanted to make her a fabric grocery bag. Oh, a grocery bag isn't that nice you say. Alright, I have some other little gifts to tuck in the package. She likes cats so I thought the bright sophisticated cats on the black background fabric would work perfectly. I was a little short on fabric so I added the teal borders on the bottom and sides. Doesn't it look planned? I think it gives the bag a nice finished look. You don't even notice the teal fabric on the sides from the front view. I zipped through this bag in no time at all. I plan to make more once I decide on the right fabrics.

If you're interested in a tutorial I took lots of photo's, so stay tuned and I'll post it in the next few days.

First of all, your boys are so adorable! I bet they are fun to have around too. And your grocery bag is perfect. I really like the teal inserts on the side. This is so much better than ugly plastic bags. What a great gift!

Hey, I think the grocery bag is a wonderful gift and I'm sure she will think so too. I wish everyone would use fabric bags for groceries and totaly ban those plastic bags.

Love the grocery bag - so much nicer than those you buy and the store. I am sure she will love it. Have a great day - I always look forward to your blog!

Wow!..a custom made grocery bag!..how wonderful... the stores here (outside of Toronto) are requiring us to use our own bags.....it takes a bit of getting used to tho...but better in the end..Your design is great!
thanks for following my blog site...i hope to see you again, Kim!

Very cute bag! And your boys are precious! Do they like to sit and watch what you do as much as my little pups watch me? I sometimes wonder if they want to sew as much as I do! :)
