Charity quilts and my first hand applique piece

I've been very busy the past couple of weeks,

but in the evenings I've been working on these

 premie charity quilts for a local hospital.

Our guild meets in one of the conference rooms

 for our monthly sew day and in return we provide

 them with charity premie quilts throughout the year.

Does anyone else hate the new goggle format update?

 I am having trouble keeping the photo's in place.

They seem to want to move around while I'm typing. Grrr..

This is a scrappy kids quilt lap size for a domestic violence shelter.

I made the scrappy backing with the leftover fabrics.

Hopefully I can quilt it this upcoming week and

have it to the shelter for the holidays.

Remember my practice "Children of the 30's"

block (above) I started back in August?

These drawings are done using colored pencils on the body.

   I finally learned to hand applique in class yesterday,
so I can put some clothes on these kids.
My friend Linda showed me her techniques,

a few more tips from the teacher and I

was sewing hand applique.  Yeah!!

I finished appliqueing the red fabric portion of her dress.

The bottom of the dress was a little difficult with all
those curved pieces, however  I was very happy

with the left side, you can barely see the stitches.

I'll be showing off that side.  

Now onto sewing the collar and then putting the finishing
touches on the dress and adding some pearl buttons.
