Quilt Retreat -Get away

I went on a quilt retreat over the weekend with three good friends and I met two other quilters. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with friends, they always give me lots of encouragement on my projects. We have an experienced group and I commonly welcome the advice, new ideas and learn some new techniques. We fondled an abundance of fabric, sewed until we couldn't stay awake, chatted and told plenty of stories, laughed and ate some good food and saw a fair amount of beautiful quilts. Oh, and did I say we sewed in our Jammies? Thanks to Sherry our hostess for all the good food and wonderful hospitality.

This is a before photo of Kathi's landscape row robin quilt I worked on.

After I added several elements including the ribbon with beads, the colorful fiber yarn and the sea shells at the bottom.

This was dinner one evening, chicken salad with lots of veggies and fruit. Believe me we had plenty to eat including some "Good" Cookies which were crunchy with corn flakes in them. Yum

I sewed together a pieced back for my Star and Heart quilt. Here

Then I sewed together this baby quilt top from the Heather Ross fabric I won on Terri's blog here back in June. I fussy cut the adorable mermaids on the light blue background. I made the blocks up as I went and trust me it takes longer to finish a quilt without a pattern. Everyone had a part in moving the blocks around to make the perfect setting. In the end they were tweaked a little by me carrying them back and forth to my sewing machine and the iron, but I like the way it turned out. Now on to finish the borders and quilt it. Finished size 42" X 50".

Nicki finished her lovely Red, Black and White quilt top. I purchased these same block patterns a couple of years ago for a buck a block with fabric. Sadly it's still in my UFO pile.

Ellen sewed together this Beautiful Bargello table runner. See the puzzle quilt on the design board to the right. I failed to get a good photo. This is Cathy's charity raffle quilt.

Linda P's Beautiful Modern Version of a Wedding Ring Quilt.

Linda P's Beautiful Baltimore Album Rose block made by hand sewing.

Linda P's sweet "Children of the 30's". Click on the photo and Look at the detail. She took a class to make the quilt and she used colored pencils to shade the face, hair and the clothing. It's amazing.

You might think this is a Zig Zag quilt, but it's a fun and whimsical children's snake quilt not quite finished. You can find the pattern Here . This is Cathy's quilt.

Sherry our hostess had plenty of beautiful quilts on her beds. I usually make them and give them away.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Kim

It sounds and looks like a wonderful way to spend the week end. Since I can't quilt I would go just to enjoy what others do and the chicken salad!!
