"Love"

Last week I pulled out these embroidered letter blocks for a Valentine's
wallhanging  I intended to make a couple of years ago.
There's no time like the present right??
Might as well finish off a UFO (Unfinished object) and cross it
off my list.    I started to sort through some red and pink fabrics in my
stash and couldn't come up with anything playful and fun.  So I was off
to the quilt store  where it was love at first sight.  I found the
pink and white heart fabric for the sashing and the bright red fabric
with those colorful hearts for the border.  The best part it was on sale
and Oh, how I love a bargain.  I've sort of vowed not to buy any
more fabric this year unless  it's to complete a project on my list,
so this qualifies. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I finished sewing on the sashing and borders on Friday and then
I was onto the design.  This is where I got creative and had some fun.
I cut out the plain hearts first and then drew the curly hearts to give
the piece a more whimsical look.  I added some beads to one of
the hearts for another element and I'm really pleased
with how it came out.

Then on Saturday evening while watching the Olympics I practiced my
free-motion quilting.  I quilted something different in each block,
swirly S's,  hearts and loops, some echo quilting  and stippling.
I was so inspired because my sewing machine was cooperating with me
and sewing perfectly.  I love it when that happens, no fiddling
with tension, just sewing, it couldn't have worked out better.
On Sunday I finished quilting the sashing and borders and planned to
sew the binding on in  the evening while watching the Olympics again.
By the time the evening wore on I lost my mojo and I couldn't
bring myself to sew. Hopefully tonight I'll get it back.

I was trying to finish for Valentine's Day, but it's almost there.

Thanks for stopping by and have a Creative Day!!

I noticed my photo's won't enlarge when you click for  a closeup view.
I used a new program to add frames and words.
I'll see if I can figure it out and post a close up view.

I love it! I also loved reading about your process of shopping and working through each stage over the course of the weekend. Cheers for such a fabulous finish! I also love your vow to only buy fabric to complete a project on the list. I'm trying that oo.
