To show you I do get some sewing done around here.
These are the doggie scarves I made for my good friends dogs
for Christmas. Aren't they sweet? Mom loves purple so the
pink heart fabric seemed appropriate with purple. They look
even cuter on the dogs. We doggie sat Katie and Ginger here
the week of Christmas and I forgot to take photo's. Aack!!
Maybe I can get a photo of them sporting their new scarves
later. The dogs are the sweetest little designer dogs Morky's
( Maltese and Yorkie) mix. They resemble the Yorky breed.
Then there are the pretty pink pinwheel blocks I completed this
weekend.
I love the batik fabric on this block with the gradation in colors.
See how the points in the middle of this block came together perfectly.
Yah Baby! Not so with many of the other blocks. No matter how
hard I try to keep the points together, those Naughty little triangles
don't always cooperate.
This is the gorgeous inspiration quilt from McCall's Quilting here.
(Less the vines and outer sawtooth border.)
My sister and I are making this quilt for my sister inlaw who has
breast cancer. I'll be mailing my blocks off to her this week.
She will sew the top together and send it off to the quilter.
I'm excited to see how it turns out, the quilter is an amazing
artist so we'll see if she adds any extra touches to the quilting.
Finished quilt size is 56-1/2" X 72-1/2"
35 Pinwheel blocks 8" X 8"
You know those ooh's and aah's you make when you see everyone
else's fabric purchases? Well I was excited to receive some of my
own acquisitions in the mail last week. Don't you just love those
cute spools, pins and buttons?
These fabrics are appropriately named Sew Happy, by Monaluna.
I plan to make some gifts with these prints.
Then there's this uber retro blenders fabric, Metro Cafe
by Robert Kaufman. I couldn't resist this adorable print and
it seems to be disappearing fast, so jump on it quickly if
you are interested in purchasing this one. I checked three
online stores before I found this one in stock and bought
the last yard.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a creative week!

I love the SEW HAPPY fabric. How very cute. Can't wait to see what you make with that fabric.
Oh my, Kim, so much to comment about in this post! First, I love the little doggie scarves. Your pinwheels look perfect to me, all of them, not just one. Bless you for doing the quilt for your sister in law, it will be lovely. Be sure to show us when it's done. Now, onto those fabrics, I want them! That blender fabric is incredible, reminds me of the 45 year old Osterizer that I use everday. Being black and chrome, it went out of style for years, but now we have a new kitchen and it's back in style!
Love all the pretty in pink projects! I bet those puppies looked adorable wearing their new scarves.
When I worked on a pinwheel project recently, I did a lot of pinning, yet some of my points still didn't match up. But that's okay! Love those new fabric purchases too - such adorable prints! Know what you're gonna make yet?
Goodness you have been busy sewing and to get those points so nice and sharp too WTG Girl Friend!!! I love the inspiration quilt!! Nothing better than squishies in the mail too :0)
Crispy
So sorry to hear about your SIL. It will be a lovely quilt for her.
Fun fabrics you have. Love the blender one.
Those doggie scarves are TOO cute!!! What a great idea. I love your pinwheels, and they look wonderful to me! One pattern I don't dare try, lol - they'd have to start out wonky, cuz I know they'd end up that way! Love the colors in that, what a fabulous gift it will be.
I love your new fabric too, especially the little blenders!! Boy is that retro or what, gorgeous.
What beautiful fabric and quilting. What a beautiful gift of love for your sister in law.
Aw, personalized doggy scarves are cute, cute, CUTE! I've never thought of doing that...
You know, I have the same problem with pinwheels, thank you for sharing that with us, 'cuz ya know, sometimes you think, "everyone but ME can make these work, why can't I?!?" your SIL will feel hugged by you.
:-}pokey
Your pink pinwheel quilt is so pretty. I always figure that the points will be off but after it's quilted and washed, no one will be looking that close!! Quilt for fun and enjoy it!
What a lovely thing to do for your sister in law. I know she'll treasure it. Cute scarves. I fear my Abby would try to eat it!
Eeeeekkkkk! I LOVE those blenders, you lucky girl! What are you going to do with them???
There's so much to love in this post -- I love pinwheels and such a sweetie you are to make the uilt for your SIL. It's bound to cheer her up. And the little doggies scarves are adorable.
