little under the weather this week with a sore throat and cold. Yuck..
I had the best time ever at retreat last weekend and actually worked
on several projects. There are 32 attendees every year from all over
the US and Canada and we have a great time.
I can finally share the hostess gifts I made a few weeks ago in the
Sew Happy fabric for our 8 fabulous hostesses.
I had a fair amount of practice sewing in zippers and I should be
a zipper pro by now.
I think they were a big hit among the hostesses.
When we went on our shop hop, I noticed some similar bags made
up in the same fabric in the Quilts and More magazine.
Didn't they know it was my idea first. LOL
I added the three borders to my Rouinneries quilt and I'm
excited to have another quilt top finished.
I think I even have some wide backing fabric in a plain
taupe color to finish it. Finished size measures 68" X 82".
I also made a little progress on my Hand Made sewing bag
that I started a few years ago. The top and bottom are hand
quilted and I added the beads for some pizzaz. This bag is all
hand stitched with the exception of the three fabrics on the body
of the bag and the decorative stitches around the center.
Yes, I even stitched the zippers in by hand.
I added some fun scrap fabrics the turtles and frogs to the inside
of the bag. I still have a little work to do on this project.
I finished 13 more pinwheel blocks I cut out.
Sorry, I forgot to take another photo of them on the design wall.
I also stitched up some Hex or GFG blocks for my forever project.
I didn't get a photo of my hex quilt, but I will take another
photo and share it with you later.
I have more show & tell photo's to reveal so I hope you'll stop in
again.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!

You were very productive. A retreat sounds awesome...I haven't been on one in years. You're a zippe Queen!
WOW Kim you got sooooo much accomplished!! Did you hand a Do Not Disturb sign on your sewing machine? LOL
I am VERY impressed with the hand made sewing bag!! I can't imagine sewing a zipper by hand....one of those things that I would have dragged the machine out to do.
I can hardly wait for the pictures!! I hope you feel better soon too!!

Wow! You really sewed on your retreat. I have had friends go on retreat and hardly got a stitch done. LOL
Your quilt turned out fantastic and those bags are darling. I can't believe you sewed a zipper on by hand.
So productive! Bet it feels good to have some finishes. :-)
Your "projects" are always works of art. Your choice of style and colors amazing. I love the handbags you made, I am sure the hosts did too. The sewing bag is so cleaver love the animals inside! mmf
Your hostess bags are cote, I think your fabric you chose was perfect. I liked your embellished zipper bag, too! your going to enjoy using it!
The red quilt top in Rouinneries will be a beauty quilted, Kim! I've loved every thing I've ever seen made up in that line ~

Nothing like some time away with your buddies and sewing machine....I'm impressed with all you achieved! Nice. I have so many projects going just now ....I really do need to finish some.
What's next for you?
Happy sewing
wow, you did lots! I'd love to go away and sew and sew non stop for a weekend! but i don't think I could leave my little girl!LOL, She like sitting on my lap while I sew, I'd take her with me...!!!
Wow....wow...apparently I need a retreat to finish some projects, lol! Those hostess bags are gorgeous, and that quilt is stunning - my gosh the colors! I love your hand made bag but I can't imagine putting in a zipper by hand! Love the fabrics and beading.
So much(!) beautiful work, Kim, but I'm a little partial to that hand-sewn bag. It's adorable, and I especially like that you used some beads for embellishment.
Oh wow....you got alot done...and the hostess gifts are just wonderful.
Glad you had a good time and do hope you get better!
I love all the projects you were working on. I love the red and tan quilt and it is so striking yet so simple. I may borrow it for a new project some day. But I am trying to get UFO's done myself.
Seems like it was a great retreat.
Your hostess gifts are wonderful, and you have been a busy lady!
Micki

I just love retreats. I have been on 2 in my quilting life of over 25 years. I do belong to a bee and a quilting Red Hat group.
I love the quilt you made and know you must have had a blast.
