Postcard Challenge

This is my little postcard quilt that reminds me

of my lake home in the North.

Can you can make out our teeny tiny dock

 and ski boat?

This was the challenge for our quilt retreat this

year.  Everyone kept silent about which quilt they made

and we all had fun trying to guess who made each quilt.

These are all the postcard quilts together.

I was trimming hedges with the Mr. on Thursday and I

wrestled with the wrong monster bougainvillea shrub

and lost.

(I call these shrubs "beauty and the beast" for their beautiful flowers
and large thorns)

I came out with a scratch or abrasion across the center of my eye

which put me out of commission for 4 days.  The Dr.'s orders were

no computer, no reading or watching television.

What an annoyance!

Unfortunately that meant no sewing either.

What's a person to do, but sit in the dark and listen to the news

and sleep as much as possible.  The eye is healed now, but my

vision isn't what it should be, so my eye Dr.  sent me to a cornea

specialist this morning.   My big fear was that he would remove

the scar tissue (debride the eye) causing another 3-4 day stint in the

dark.  Does anything sound more depressing?   I tried to keep

positive and I received HAPPY NEWS today!

Wait two weeks to a month for my vision to become clearer.

I can live with this, no more pain and exactly the kind of news

I wanted to hear.

Now I have to catch up around the house and find my way back

into the sewing room.

Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!

Kim I LOVE your postcard - it takes me right to the lake! I can almost smell the pines. Girl, your shrub is stunning but oh my gosh WEAR GOGGLES - I'm so glad there's no permanent damage, how scary is that! I hope and pray your eye heals completely soon, and that your vision is back to normal!

Your postcard is amazing! There were some very talented ladies at your retreat. Glad to hear that the eye is doing better. Bougainvillea have such nasty thorns but are so beautiful.

Your little postcard is a work of art! I would want to frame it, if I were you.
I'm so sorry to hear about your run-in with the B. bush. I love the beauty of them too, but I never had one until I lived in this house, and you are right, it is a beast to trim back! I do hope your eye heals soon, Kim. I would hate to lose my sight!

You are so talented! Your lake home post card looks wonderful! I can't get over the details in it!!! Just amazing.
Thankfully you didn't require any further medical treatment for your eye. Just more healing time! You are very lucky it didn't cause more damage. Wearing protective eye gear next time, might not be a bad idea. :0)

Wow, that bougainvillea shrub really attacked you! I didn't know they could be so nasty. I hope you heal fast and recover quickly. Must be hard to be out of commission for everything.

Your postcard is stunning! I love seeing your re-creation of a real scene, especially one with such fond memories for you. Great work!

Great postcards. I really like the detail in yours.
We did that in our guild too but not so many participants.
Glad you got good news about your eye. I guess you will leave the bush to your husband.

Your postcard is wonderful Kim, so much detail in such a small piece, I'm really impressed!!

I'm so happy that you will not need surgery to correct the injury!! I can't imagine having to sit and do nothing for several days....I'm glad you have maintained your sanity :0)

Hi Kim! I was just reading SewCalGal's blog and saw that you won a book in her giveaway. I followed her link to here, saw your pic and went, "Hey, I know her!"

I guess the quilty world is rather small after all.

Congrats on your win, hope you enjoy the book!
