laid plans go awry?
On my recent little vacation trip my friend was beading with
a group of her friends and guess who was lured in?
When I said, "wait I'll bring out my quilt blocks to work on"
and they offered some beads and said they would teach me a new
stitch, how could I possibly refuse?
So this is what I've been working on lately.
This is the stitch I learned called "Herringbone" and the
necklace I made. I sure enjoyed the little diversion.
A week after I returned from my vacation a good friend called
and asked if I would like to get together and bead.
Of course I couldn't say no, I taught her how to bead several years
ago, so it was fun to see all her new creations. As we chatted and
got caught up, I made this gold beaded Christmas ball ornament.
It's not perfect by any means since it's my first attempt and I will
place the blame partially on the beads for the irregular shapes and
sizes. I didn't have the right beads so I used what I had, next time
I will use a more uniform bead. I think these would make perfect
Christmas gifts.
I'm happy to have some kind of finish since I've been neglecting
my quilting for the past few weeks. I do have some works in
progress and more beading to share.
Also thanks so much for the well wishes on my eye, I can tell
my eyesight has improved.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day.

Your beading is very pretty. I really like the ornaments.
Kim, you are clever! I love the ornaments too - Hugs Nat
I can understand getting lured in. Thank goodness I've let up on my knitting to do a little quilting LOL. I LOVE the necklace!!!

Your necklace is gorgeous! What a fun hobby to have, especially one that you can take with you.
What a fun post, Kim! Always love anything creative with beading, and that herringbone stitch is one that I will now try to learn. It's beautiful!
I can so relate to your post Kim- I enjoy beading too and it is so much faster than quilting. If I need to feel like I am getting something accomplished I get the beads out and play for the evening. "The quilting still beckons me back and I do love to pet my fabric.
Warmest regards,
Anna
Kim those are really lovely!! I can't believe you're doing that after your eye injury though - I had to stop beading because I could no longer see well enough. I'm glad your eye is improving!
Oh, how pretty. You are so talented. Glad your eye is getting better.
How wonderful, I haven't tried beading because I think I'd get hooked on it. I do love the Christmas ornament.
Oooo...so lovely! I love beading too and at one point was at the "addicted" stage. I quickly put an end to that since I already have a fabric stash. Beading is even more expensive, but it sure is fun! It'll be fun to see all of your creations!
It's funny how quilters are really "crafters" who like to try all sorts of new things if we have the opportunity! You did an excellent job with the necklace! Such tiny beads! What a cute ornament!! They will make perfect Christmas gifts indeed!!! :0)
oh beading, my DD's tried it for two summers I took them to classes, they made lots of bracelets and necklaces. REally enjoyed it. I tried my hardest not to get hooked! I bought beads:)
thinking I would add them to some of my quilts.
I wish she would have had a class to learn how to do those ornaments, that I would have tried!
its just beautiful would make great gifts.
the necklace you made is beautiful what a great color

How awesome! Love your beading! It's always fun to get side tracked isn't it? I have been beading too, only making the glass beads themselves! Too much fun!
