I finished my June chicken block and decided to use the log cabin blocks for the
building theme drawn for this month. I appreciate all your great suggestions
for themes and will consider them in the future.
This block required a little work before I could add the log cabin blocks. The
background fabric had some stains that wouldn't wash out, so what's a girl to do?
I couldn't leave this cute little chick out of the mix, so I cut the background
fabric away and hand appliqued it to a new background fabric. I am more
of a novice when it comes to hand applique, so it was a good way to
practice my skills.
I am not totally satisfied with the size of the 2" center squares in the log cabin
blocks, they seem a little large. I mulled over the idea of making another set
of blocks with a smaller center, although these blocks fit perfectly and I like
the size of the logs otherwise. What would you do?
I tried to upload some other projects I've been working on, but for some reason
they won't upload. Maybe in a few days. I've been playing with blogger and
revamping my blog. I thought blogger had some better templates, can I say
I'm not impressed.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative week!

Your chicken is really cute. Great job!
Actually I like the larger center to the log cabin. Makes that cute chicken shine. I have heard others say that Blogger is being difficult when uploading pictures. Hopefully they will quit goofing around with the program so everything works. I hear ya on the template designs, rather ho-hum. I'll just stick with my old one for now.

That is absolutely darling, Kim! Love the chicken coop wire fabric. :)
Another good one! Blogger has been giving a few issues...hang in there.
what a colorfull cute chicken.

What a cutie! I like this bigger block, especially with the smaller log cabin-type blocks on the bottom border. Keep it up!
I've heard a few other people having trouble with Blogger the past couple days, so something must be going around.
That chicken block is adorable.
Very cute. I think I like the blocks the size they are. I think the yellow pops.
Very cute! You did a good job with the blocks and I like the size of the centers. Lately it is hit or miss with good old blogger.
I think your chicken is adorable, but I agree that the log cabins miss it somewhere.....not sure if it's the large centers, but I think that's part of it. I'm not too kicky with the chickens as part of them either....just me, but I'd make the center smaller and eliminate the chicken fabric. But I LOVE the funky chicken on the block and really like the blue background fabric
O Yes, I love your chickens! Keep up the wonderful work!
Another chicken winner, I think! I really like the white on white background, isn't it cute for the funky chicken?!? (Funny how those w/w pop in photos, sometimes, huh?)
:-}pokey
Oh my gosh that is so cute! I like the yellow in the blocks, but maybe you could add little chicken foot prints? That's what I would do, because I hate math and the thought of trying to figure out new ones that would fit so perfectly would absolutely destroy me. *G*
I think I'd also leave the centers as they are. I like the way the yellow picks up the chicken's beak color. I love log cabin designs, and the larger centers are just another interpretation, so very interesting! It's a great look, Kim!
This is soooooo fun...I need to go to your back post and find out where you are getting these chickens. I did make one chicken quilt for my husband...but who says he can not have another?
love the chicken block.. that one looks quite a character!!
