Bright Batik Quilt Finished

I started this quilt back in September 2010 and

will somebody pinch me, because I finished

the binding on May 31, 2011.  I really find the binding

process very relaxing, but for some reason I procrastinate

when it comes to this step.  I have 3 other quilts piled

up that are long overdue for bindings.

Excuse the not so clear photo's taken on my Iphone

My good friend Linda recently invited me over

for a sew day and to quilt this one on her

Long Arm machine.

I was excited to get more practice under my belt

on the LA and finally complete this lap quilt.

The week before I quilted a "Quilt of Valor" quilt

on another friends LA.   On my domestic machine

this would have taken me 2 - 3 days to quilt,

so I was appreciative for the quick finish.

You can click on this photo to see

the quilting up close.

I used some of the leftover scraps for the back.

You can't go wrong with a scrappy back,

I love it as much as the front.

I can now check another one off my UFO list.

Is there any process in quilting that you don't like

and what is your solution to get through it?

Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!

What a fun quilt. I love Batiks and love the way they quilt as well.

Kim that is just gorgeous - and the quilting is wonderful! Good job! I too love doing the binding, and usually get it done right away - simply because it means I can sit and watch some Lucy while I work on it.
The part I hate is piecing. I'm not good at it and I don't care enough to get better, lol. The only time I enjoy it is when it's liberated style.

It's beautiful Kim and very bright!! :0) I would love to have the opportunity to play with a long arm. You did a great job on the quilting. Did you follow a panto or free and it?

Well done. I did click on it to see the quilting design. A great one.
I hate making backs for quilts. So boring. I don't have any secrets to getting it done except that I know a quilter is ready for it. lol

What a beautiful quilt! I love how soft the colors look. I can just imagine how wonderful it feels to have this one finished now. I am the same way as you - I enjoy doing the binding but procrastinate that last step. I too have three quilts waiting for the binding to be finished. Maybe we should get together to force each other to work on them!

Congratulations on your finish. It's a beauty. Love a scrappy back. How wonderful to be able to use a friend's long arm. Great job.

What a beautiful quilt Kim... I love it! As for me, I really dislike pinning the top, batting and backing in preparation for quilting. I don't like all that time on my hands and knees, hurting my fingers putting all those pins in there! I haven't really found a secret except having a deadline for finishing... :-)

I sure like your brights in this one, Kim. You've done a great job on the quilting, too, wow!

Hi Kim,

a beautiful Quilt and a great job on the quilting.
I would love to try out a LA. Not a chance over here. Oh well, If I win the lottery I get on. lol.
The binding is not my favorit thing to do and the best thing to get through it is a dead line.
hugs Kerstin

Sweet quilting...is that a pantogram?
you sure did a great job for someone who doesn't LA all the time.
Is there a batik that doesn't go with other batiks? No! I just love em.

Lovely job, Happy sewing
