Some things I've been working on.

It's no secret that some of my favorite fabrics are 

novelty foods and batiks. 

I decided to share them and made these sweet 

baskets for my friend who loves purple 

and my niece who loves blue.

Speaking of novelty food fabrics, I picked up these fun

newly released fabrics at the quilt show.  

I don't drink beer, but my dear hubby says it tastes good 

with his pizza when we go out to a restaurant.  

The cold beer will go well with the 

pizza fabric in my stash.  

Those pixie sticks, red vines and pickles 

look almost edible.  

One of the Quilt shop booths at the show was giving out 

a free fat qtr to everyone with a coupon.  

Good thing I saw the coupon inside the 

program before we left the show and 

selected this cute artsy fabric.   

I started this little Christmas stitchery on linen back in 

December and finally put the finishing touches on it. 

This stitchery was a free pattern by Gail Pan Designs here.  

I recently picked up my Stars and Hearts quilt 

from the quilter.  I love the Sharon Schambers 

Pantograph I chose for the quilting.  

I finished it up last year and finally 

got it to the quilter in January.

A Miniature Quilt Finish

Ever notice when you go over to a quilting friends house or the local quilt stores, they always have adorable little quilts displayed?  Little quilts are so charming and I can't seem to make enough of them lately.   I've joined a few miniature quilt swaps and making them can become addictive.  These small cuties work up quicker than regular size quilts and I love the instant gratification.

I made the star blocks 4" finished by drawing out my own paper piecing templates.  This is where a quilting design program like EQ6 or in my case Quilt-Pro 5 for the Mac would come in handy.

I finished the top in February and decided to put mitered borders on it at retreat.  I learned how to make mitered corners years ago, but when you don't use it you lose it as the saying goes.  So I asked my friend Linda to give me a quick lesson.  I drew the feathers around the borders with a purple pen and quilted it on my domestic machine, then finished the binding last week.  The quilt measures approximately 25" X 25".  If you've seen any of the schnibbles quilts made up, this one sort of reminds me of them.

I almost forgot there is one thing I don't like about the purple marking pen.
1.  I drew the feathers on the night before and by the time I went to quilt it the next morning most of the lines had disappeared.  Some were very faint so I had to draw the pattern over again.  Lesson learned, draw pattern on quilt right before quilting.
