I made a little progress

with my hexes for border blocks around
my children of the 30's quilt blocks here and here.
I've been sitting in front of the TV sewing
a little bit in the evenings when I get the opportunity.
I love these colors together and
really prefer more modern fabrics over the 30's
fabrics Arlene used in her quilt.
Notice all the polka dot fabrics?  I seem to be fascinated
 with those polka dots lately.
I can't wait to get enough hexes to sew them into
the diamond blocks and see how they take shape.

Some of you may remember the cute "Oh Boy" charm
pack I won over on Greg's blog awhile back.
I have a new little great nephew and decided these
fabrics would make a perfect baby boy quilt.
I only have the blocks sewn in rows for now and
hope to get it put together soon.
The assorted three blue polka dot fabrics to the right
will be borders, binding and of course the minkee
goes on the back.  I love the feel of the soft minkee
and hope it will be loved by the baby as well.

Counting time is not so important
as making time count.

Thanks for stopping by and
have a creative day.

The colors of the hexies is just wonderful! It is a terrific project for sitting and doing while watching TV!

Polka dots are working well for you everywhere -- and in spite of liking more modern fabrics, I think these may look a bit retro in your finished quilt. Hex patterns are also not new, so you can't avoid looking a little old-fashioned with this one. There's a lot of hand-work there!

Love your saying! Making time count is so important, and I need to remember that more!

I really, really love your hexes - great color combinations. I bet that quilt is going to be stunning. What a fun boy quilt too! You sure have been productive.

I like how your hexes are turning out Kim.

The baby quilt looks so cozy with those soft colors. Having the minkie on the back is going to make it feel even more that way.

Good job on both. You sure get a lot done!
