More Retreat Show & Tell

I'm delighted to share a few more quilt photo's from our (award winning) guest speaker
Terri Doyle ( standing on the right) from our retreat last weekend.
If you want to see more quilts check out my previous post.

This flower quilt was amazing, click on the next photo to
see it in all it's glory.

Terri did a fabulous job on this one.

Love the little details like this butterfly.

Look at the amazing quilting on the back.

This horse was incredible, I love how Terri added the
sparkle by using the iron on crystals.
My photo's don't do this quilt justice.

Close up view of horse.

I absolutely loved this teal and purple quilt.

I believe it was this gorgeous whole cloth quilt that
Terri won an award(s).
Don't quote me, but I think this one won both
at Paduccah and at the Houston show.
Click on the photo to see her exquisite quilting.

Terri said, she bought this vintage topper and added
the quilting to it.

Another pretty blue and white quilt with lovely quilting.

Isn't this quilt outstanding??
This top was made with an applique technique called
Broderie Perse.  This art of applique is where you cut out motifs
of a flower or bird and applique it to a solid background.

I love the white background on this quilt, it really
makes the basket, florals, and ribbons stand out.
Someday I hope to make a quilt with a white background.

Terri shared a few tips with us, she uses the blue wash out markers
and marks everything on her quilts. Don't forget to test the marker first.
She uses at least two battings in her quilts, sometimes
three to make the quilting stand out.

Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!!

Thanks for the show and tell the quilts are just amazing. I also love white backgrounds. I usually pick up a bolt of white at Joannes when I am in the USA. I have one just waiting for me to get going on a wedding ring quilt with applique borders and I am not a fan of applique. LOL Thanks for the nice comment on the cupcakes for my nieces.

These are beautiful quilts! I also love the little touches like the butterfly. Some of the spaces between the quilting lines look stuffed (like the "trapunto" technique).

How inspiring to see these works of art in person! I love that butterfly detail, and that teal and purple quilt too. What a great idea to use two layers of batting for extra pop in your quilting.
