There were so many sweet comments about the
yummy food fabrics I purchased and showed
pictures of here, that I decided to share some
projects I made with fabrics I collected back in 2007.
My brother in law is without doubt a junk food junky.
Shhhh.... don't tell him I said that,
but chances are he already knows it.
He would rather snack on a bag of potato chips, cookies,
peanuts, beef jerky or a candy bar than eat a good meal.
Do you know anyone like this?
Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy and
I love my chocolate, just not for breakfast,
lunch and dinner. Well maybe after for dessert.
I knew I wanted to make him a quilt and had
selected another pattern which included batiks.
Then in 2006 when I was shopping in a quilt store
and came across these novelty food fabrics,
I had an epiphany or Ah ha moment.
I was determined to collect enough novelty food
fabrics for a quilt and they've become some of
my favorites.
So now you know the rest of the story.
I made this lap quilt titled "Junk Food Junkie"
for his Birthday, February 2007.
Sorry the photo isn't the best.
Close-up view of fabrics and quilting.
My friend Ami quilted this one for me and did an outstanding job.
I made this tote bag for Mr. Create's aunt who is a
high school teacher for a Christmas gift in 2007.
I personalized it with her name embroidered
on the inside pocket.
I thought her students would enjoy the junk food.
It was a big hit and she told me she loved it.

What a fun quilt to make for a guy, I bet he loved it.
I still need to try some tote bags. It would be fun to make some custom ones for travel.

Wow, you have been busy! Great projects, still loving those fabrics!
Aw wow, those projects are so cool with those food fabrics. Amazing quilting on that quilt too. Love the tote bag, which would be great for groceries. I bet people would stop you and comment on it!
I looks amazing in the picture but 1000 times more in person. I know it was a labor of love and it shows. Your brother in law loves it. Heck who wouldn't.
Love your junk food projects! What fun fabrics. I can see why they've become a favorite of yours. The fabrics can be as addictive as the food!
Haha- I love these! Those are perfect fabric for people who eat like I do. I remember, when I lived in TX, dinner was honey-roasted peanuts, M&M's, and a beer. EVERY DAY.
I have not ever seen that hamburger fabric before. What a perfect quilt for someone who likes junk food. Maybe one day he will change his ways. lol
I think it would be hard to collect that fabric only because on my shopping trips to different shops I have not seen much food fabric at all. So you must have a pretty good selection.

I love junk food too but I would rather have a meal first. LOL
