While my favorite preferred sewing machine is in the shop for service this week, I put the finishing touches on my "Children of the 30's" block. The stitchery on the dress, the pearl buttons and the
checked bow on her collar. I'm really satisfied with the way it turned out for my first hand pieced project. I started out with a lot of enthusiasm, but these blocks have taken a back seat to another hand piecing class that I couldn't pass up a couple of months ago. The teacher demonstrates some amazing techniques each month, so I plan to continue taking her upcoming classes. As you're probably aware hand piecing is slow going, so I'll share my second project as I finish each block.
These drawings are drawn with a pigma pen and colored in with colored pencils. As you can see only the dresses are sewn with fabrics. If you haven't read about my "Children of the 30's" blocks before you can read about them in my previous posts here and at the end of this post here.
( Sorry the photo is sideways)
on and add some buttons and stitchery to her dress. Hopefully
I can spend some time finishing this block in the next week.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a Happy Mothers Day!!

Absolutely adorable!
Very, very sweet! I understand the dress, buttons and collar are hand-stitched, but unless I missed something I wonder, did you draw the figure?
Did I missed something here. Are the figures hand drawn? Absolutely beautiful work of art Kim - Hugs Nat
