A little finish

After a lot of procrastination I finally finished this baby quilt.
I used Minkee on the back and I was apprehensive about free
motion quilting through the heavy layers.  I finally decided to
use my walking foot and stitch in the ditch.  I adjusted the
speed to medium and decided to take it slow and easy.
As it turns out the Minkee wasn't so bad after all, it just takes
a little extra time.  Next time I might try my heavier sewing
machine, my computerized sewing machine is a little more
delicate and doesn't handle the heavy layers well.
The Minkee is so soft and cuddly I almost want to
keep it for myself.  I hope my great nephew likes it.

Murphy & Fred like it too.

Oh Murphy that new shampoo smells so good.

Sweet Cuddle bugs.

Mom we're tired can we nap now?
This photo op takes too long.

I used an "Oh Boy" charm pack and added some
dotty fabric for the borders and used the leftover
 fabrics for a scrappy binding.
Thanks for stopping by.

That is such a fabulous quilt! I love the colors, and the Minkee for the back. I still haven't tried Minkee so I appreciate your thoughts on how to work with it. OMG, Murphy and Fred are SO funny... and adorable. What a couple o' cuddly doggies!

Love that quilt! I have never used Minkee before but often fondle it in the stores, it is so very soft! The pups are looking good, they are so cute!

I always love Minkie, it's perfect for softness! I agree you saved yourself some concern by not free-motion quilting through that softness -- in the ditch probably worked much better. Very, very nice!!

Your nephew is going to love the quilt. Nothing is softer than that Minkee stuff!!

Is Murphy sticking his tongue out at you? Such a "boy" thing to do LOL.

Oh, what pretty fabrics. Minkee is soft. I have heard others say it was not fun to quilt but it sounds like you figured it out and it turned out great. Love the photos of your pups yawning at the same time. Cute.

It looks like as many liked Fred and Murphy as much as they like the quilt. All three are pretty special. I love the color of the quilt. It will be a lifelong treasure. Hope your day is a good one. xoxo

My pups always think the softest things in the house are theirs! I'm not sure I'd ever get them off minkee. Your pups are just adorable and I love the quilt too!

How cute and snuggily. I've never used minkee. Looks like your pups are wanting a cozy quilt of their own.

Love the quilt and the babies too. Murphy is my first dog's name growing up. He was a collie.

I love the feel of minke, what a lucky baby. I really like the little purple border, it really sets off the quilt.
