I finished my snowman quilt last week, just in time for the
holidays. I'm so happy to add this cheerful snowman to the
finished list for 2010. I made two of these tops and finished
one for my good friend many years ago. This one has been
hanging out in the UFO pile, until I put it on my studio
door last year as a little incentive to finish and I'm glad I did.
So without further ado, here's my snowman quilt.
Closeup view.
I practiced my free motion quilting and nearly quilted
it all freehand, with the exception of the first border.
I wanted the S's in the first border to come out more
uniform, so I used a blue marking pen. Even though
I wiped it down with a damp cloth, the marks are
still visible in the photo. I'll have to add a little more
water to make them permanently disappear.
( Tip - If those blue marks don't come out, make a
paste with baking soda and it usually does the trick.)
I wanted to add some buttons or beads for his mouth
and I saw some coal type buttons awhile back, but for
the life of me I can't remember where now. It always
pays to buy something when you see it.
Mr. Snowman with his cold hands and warm heart
has found his winter home in my entryway to welcome
all visitors.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative week.

Merry Christmas Kim - your little snowman is darling!!! I've seen those buttons too, and I can't remember where either....maybe Joann's? I think that's the last fabric type place I shopped at....I hope you find them!
Love your snowman! Cute!
He's very cute and perfect for the weather there. Thanks for the tip for the blue pen, handy to know.
He is wonderful Kim :0) The poor guy is awful thin but snow is rather scarce in Arizona LOL.
