This was a collaborative effort with my sister to make a
comfort quilt for my sister-inlaw who was undergoing chemo
and radiation treatments for breast cancer.
Unfortunately my sister lives in another state, so we couldn't
get together in person to make this quilt. I sent her my
blocks and provided the white background fabric and a soft
cozy flannel (with the breast cancer awareness ribbon) for the
back. My sister furnished the border fabric and batting, then
volunteered to sew the quilt together and delivered it to
her awesome quilter.

Isn't the quilting lovely in this photo? We were so pleased with
the outcome. The quilter said, this pinwheel quilt was the
prettiest one she had ever seen. What a nice compliment coming
from an amazing quilter.
It's serendipity that we each made 17 blocks with only one repeat.
I love the way she quilted the flowers in the borders and the
pinwheel cornerstones. Isn't it beautiful?

My sister-inlaw called to tell me she was so surprised to get
the quilt. She loves it and was so thankful. She took it to
work to show everyone and later took it to her church to
show her friends there. How sweet is that? I think she's
happy with it.
She received good news a couple of months back. The Dr.
said, the breast tumors were shrunk down and the cancer was
no longer active. Although she called me today to say she is
having some pain in her knee. She recently went in for a
full body scan and an x-ray of the knee and they are
concerned there may be cancer in her knee. My heart sank,
she has been through so much, but we hope for the best and
will wait for the test results in a few days. We are keeping her
in our thoughts and prayers. Her name is Chris if you would
keep her in your thoughts and prayers also.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful
Memorial day weekend!

This is a beautiful quilt in one of my more frequently-used pinwheel designs. For me, this has a watercolor look to it! I wouldn't have imagined that to be possible with pinwheels, but there it is!
Good thoughts for your sister in law, Kim.
The quilt is beautiful! Prayers for your sister-in-law.
The quilt is beautiful. I will add your SIL in my prayers. I am just so sick of hearing all the people that cancer effects.
Your quilt is beautiful and the quilter did an amazing job with it! I especially like the flowers in the border.
I'll keep your sister in law in my thoughts. I hope her knee pain isn't anything other than normal.
What a loving gift this is, Kim. The variety of pinks blend beautifully, like one of those pretty water color quilts. Tell Chris we'll be praying in California. That cancer is such a cruel disease...we'll pray for the best!!
